Iran Demands US Assesses Nuclear Deal without Israeli Interference
Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, disclosed in an interview that diplomatic discussions remain active, with regional powers providing assistance to advance the negotiation framework.
Referencing a diplomatic communication delivered through Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi transmitting Tehran's positions to American officials, Larijani confirmed no formal response has been issued by Washington.
He underscored Iran's willingness to engage constructively while highlighting mutual understanding between Tehran and Washington that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons capability—a position the Islamic Republic maintains consistently.
Larijani cautioned against protracted negotiations while firmly excluding Iran's missile arsenal from discussions, arguing that additional topics would derail diplomatic progress.
"Our missile program stands entirely separate from the nuclear one. It is a domestic matter, basically linked to our national security. As such, it cannot be part of these negotiations," he said.
He rejected proposals for complete uranium enrichment cessation, declaring the concept "not on the table."
"It is impractical for a country that has already mastered this technology to reduce it to zero," he said, noting enriched uranium requirements for medical research and healthcare applications.
Larijani further asserted Iran's preparedness for security threats while accusing Israel of attempting to disrupt negotiations and destabilize regional dynamics.
"Our negotiations are exclusively with the United States. We are not engaged in any talks with Israel," he said. "However, Israel has inserted itself into this process, with their intent on undermining and sabotaging these negotiations."
He indicated Iran's readiness to collaborate with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye to preserve regional stability.
Addressing the 12-day military confrontation with Israel last June, Larijani acknowledged Iran's intelligence capabilities were not as robust as publicly depicted, though security infrastructure has since been reinforced and Israeli aggression strengthened domestic cohesion.
