US Senator Predicts Shift in Israeli Military’s Strategy
Speaking with a news agency, Graham emphasized a transformation in military planning when questioned about President Donald Trump’s recent use of the phrase "finish the job."
Graham explained, "I think what the topic we're talking about today is a change in strategy," indicating a shift in how Israel may continue its operations.
President Trump, before departing for Scotland on Friday, intensified his rhetoric regarding Hamas, declaring that its leadership would be "hunted down.”
He further remarked, "Hamas really didn't want to make a deal. I think they want to die...And it got to be to a point where you're going to have to finish the job," reinforcing his hardline stance during a press interaction.
Graham echoed Trump’s sentiment, suggesting that the president has "come to believe there's no way you're going to negotiate an end of this war with Hamas."
This reflects a growing belief among American conservatives that diplomatic resolution with Hamas is unlikely.
Referring to Hamas, Graham described the group as a "terrorist organization who is chartered to destroy the State of Israel," labeling them as "religious Nazis," and reinforcing the view that their ideology prevents any meaningful negotiation or peace effort.
Drawing historical parallels, Graham concluded by saying, “I think Israel’s come to conclude that they can’t achieve a goal of ending the war with Hamas that would be satisfactory to the safety of Israel and that they’re going to do in Gaza what we did in Tokyo and Berlin -- take the place by force, then start over again, presenting a better future for the Palestinians, hopefully having the Arabs take over the West Bank and Gaza.”
His statement implies that Israel may adopt a full-scale, force-driven campaign followed by reconstruction and regional governance reforms.
